The International Association of Assessing Officers will present the award in August.
The St. Johns County Property Appraiser’s Office is receiving the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers.
Recognition from the association is the highest professional honor an assessment jurisdiction can obtain, according to a news release from the appraiser’s office.
Criteria for qualifying for the award includes use of best appraisal and assessment practices and emphasis on teamwork and group achievement.
“The process of applying for the CEAA was quite rigorous,” St. Johns County Property Appraiser Eddie Creamer said in the release.
“We were asked to document our standards and processes in mapping, data collection, communications, technology, management and staffing, among other areas. I am very proud of our entire team for the superior quality of their day-to-day work and the care they put into the application process. Our office has been recognized for excellence by our profession’s highest authority.”
The certificate will be presented Aug. 30 at the association’s 88th annual International Conference on Assessment Administration in Boston.
The association is based in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a nonprofit, educational and research association of government assessment officials and others interested in the administration of the property tax.
Founded in 1934, it has more than 8,000 members worldwide from governmental, business and academic communities.
The St. Johns County Property Appraiser’s Office is constitutionally mandated to assess real and tangible personal property and administer exemptions.
The team comprises professionals in appraisal, deed and property ownership, GIS mapping, information technology and database administration.
The office uses on-site property inspections, aerial photography, recorded sales, construction cost data and mapping technologies to determine property value.
