The heat is on

Annual YLS chili competition Feb. 17

The Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section will spice things up at its annual Charity Chili Cook-off, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at Riverside Arts Market.

Businesses and law firms are forming teams and tweaking their recipes for the ultimate legal challenge: deciding which firm makes the best chili.

Last year’s event had 35 teams, 10 state and federal court judges deciding the winners and about 1,300 attendees who picked the “Best Overall Chili,” while raising more than $8,500 for local charity Anthony J. Stinson’s Association for Change.

This year is shaping up to be even meatier, with more teams, more judges and more funds raised for this year’s social enterprise, Rethreaded.

The nonprofit renews hope, reignites dreams and releases potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business.

The event will feature live music, free drinks and other treats so bring the family and then head to Black Sheep Restaurant in Five Points for the official after-party.
