The Young Lawyers Section of the JBA is sponsoring the Holiday in January project, which provides belated Christmas gifts for foster children.
The idea is to capture those less fortunate children that may have been forgotten over the holidays because they were placed in the foster care system during December.
Designed to make the holidays merrier for children who are orphaned or separated from their natural parents through the legal system, the project emphasizes “wish list” items over essentials.
Encompassing disadvantaged children from infancy to age 17, the project has been working with various law firms and individual attorneys to gather gifts for the children. The Department of Children and Families will send invitations to the children to attend the gift-giving ceremony.
Although the project’s initial purpose is to provide presents for children new to the foster care system, other disadvantaged children are welcome to attend.
