SBA gives out annual awards

The Small Business Administration has announced its 2001 award winners. They’ll will be honored May 8 at the 10th annual Small Business Week Celebration on May 8 at the Marriott Southpoint.

The Small Business Person of the Year is Josephine Richards, president of East Coast Greenery. The Young Entrepreneur of the Year is Michael Brown, president of BrownINK designs.

Eve Brown, CPA, was named the Accountant Advocate of the Year. She’s with Presser, Lahnen & Edelman.

Gilbert Levy Jr. of the Perkins State Bank is the Financial Services Advocate of the Year, Arlisa Jackson of ARJA Enterprises is the Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year, Teresa Elmore of Triangle Maritime Exports is the Small Business Exporter of the Year and Erin Shirley of Priority Management of the Women in Business Advocate of the Year.

Tickets to the luncheon are $30 and more information is available from the University of North Florida’s Small Business Development Center at 620-2476.
