City unveils new energy plan

Mayor John Delaney and JEA managing director and CEO Walt Bussells held a press conference Wednesday morning to announce the hiring of a consultant to help make the City’s 385 public buildings more energy efficient. CMS Viron, which is based in Kansas, will employ various energy saving techniques at every current and future City-owned building. Bussells said methods such as solar energy to heat the water at the jail may be installed and Delaney called the agreement a “win-win situation.”
