Charities benefited and everyone had fun last month when Jacksonville homebuilder D.R. Horton held a Family Fishing Tournament and Festival at Metro Park.

The fishing tournament drew 53 teams and the winner was the team of Capt. Brian Garrett, who won $2,000 for the catch which totaled 13.75 pounds. Capt. Wade Hastings and his crew was next and won $1,000.

The festival was a big carnival with numerous games, clowns, face painting, prizes and food.

It was the second year that Horton has sponsored the event and proceeds this year went to the First Coast Family and Housing Foundation, which serves homeless and abused women and their children.
