Prices go up by 8% over '01

The median sales price of homes sold in Florida during March rose to $134,100, up eight percent compared with the same time period last year when the median price was $123,900, according to the Florida Association of Realtors®.

The median sales price has increased 45.3 percent since March 1997, when the median sales price was $92,300, according to FAR.

The number of resale homes sold in March was 11,970, up one percent compared with 11,854 homes sold in during the same time period last year.

Markets across the state continued to report strong sales and low inventory, according to FAR. The average interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 7.01 percent last month, slightly higher than the 6.95 percent rate in March last year.
