Florida Community College at Jacksonville hosted a reception Tuesday night at its Advanced Technology Center to recognize the education and training partnership between FCCJ and the United States Navy. The home port training showcase culminated in the graduation of a handful of sailors from the culinary arts program, one of many programs offered to sailors on FCCJ’s Kent Campus.
“This reception is a celebration of 30 years of successful collaboration,” said FCCJ President Steven Wallace.
“We’ve been involved in a revolution in training,” said Vice Admiral Al Harms Jr. “We do training and education well in what we do but here is an extraordinary opportunity to do better. We want to be a Navy where life-long learning is our mantra. This partnership enables our sailors to get up-to-date, world class training. Leveraging this opportunity will make our sailors perform better. It will also provide benefits for personal and professional growth.”
