Speciality Freight Services’ bike messengers have a new downtown base. The six-year-old company will use the old teller windows at the SunTrust building as an exchange point between their bike couriers and car service.

“This way, the bike messengers can drop off packages coming from downtown for car service to other parts of the city,” said Lisa Ehrie, the company’s owner. “And they’ll be able to pick up packages for downtown delivery that are coming from farther away.”

The space will undergo light renovations and Ehrie expects they’ll move in about a month. Until then, they’re set up in a temporary space in the building.

Ehrie said the messengers have been riding test runs for about two weeks and SFS will be adding more messengers to its fleet in the coming weeks.
