Jacksonville Area Legal Aid hosted a grand opening for the Major B. Harding Center for Justice Wednesday evening. The new reception area, at 126 W. Adams St., was named after former Florida Supreme Court Justice Major Harding, a long-time advocate of JALA. Now retired, Harding has joined the Tallahassee law firm of Ausley & McMullen, and will lead the firm’s appellate division. He said he would continue to offer his legal services pro bono. Harding, the guest of honor at the ceremony, said he was humbled at the honor of having JALA’s new welcome center named after him. “My wife told me that having a building named after you meant you had to be good for the rest of your life,” he joked. “I think she had something to do with this.”
