Watson Realty now has the exclusive listing for the Townhomes at Berkman Plaza. Here’s the team they have assembled.

MEET THE TEAM

Clark LaBlond is vice president and manager of Watson’s Avondale/Ortega office. A California native, he has been in real estate for a little more than five years and formerly managed Watson’s North Jacksonville office. Site associates are Trudye Blackard, Terri Cornell, Keith Waldrip and Joy Walker. In addition to her work as a Realtor, Blackard also teaches at Forrest High School.

Terri Cornell, who joined the team about four months ago, has a background in sales and once worked as a buyer for Furchgott’s, which was a downtown department store. Alabama native Waldrip has been with Watson for two years, coming from a position in corporate banking.

Walker joined the company about a year ago after moving from Atlanta where she was a teacher.

Zoberman works in the corporate office as the regional sales manager for the new homes division. The Toronto native once worked as an auctioneer in bankruptcy properties.

The group took over the listing July 1.

HOW MANY TOWNHOMES ARE THERE?

There are 20 total, but only 14 are available.

WHY WERE THESE TEAM MEMBERS CHOSEN?

“I looked for people who we felt had the right feel for high end sales,” said LaBlond. “They also had to have an idea of what’s happening in the area and in the growth of downtown, so they could speak to what’s coming. But it’s also important, since this is a historic area, for them to know what downtown was.”

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE MOST INTERESTED IN THE TOWNHOMES?

“We show them to a lot of people who are thinking about downsizing,” said Walker.

“Also, those in the market for a second home,” said Cornell.

“These are a great option for people who live at the beach and don’t want to face the long drive at the end of each work day,” said Zoberman. “And a lot of people come from out-of-state.”

“They’re an excellent choice for people who work from home,” said Blackard. “Residents have access to the amenities in Berkman Tower that include conference rooms and meeting rooms. And they’re in close proximity to the legal and financial world.”

PRICE RANGE AND LAYOUT

The townhomes range from $565,000 to $695,000. There are three different layouts. Plan A features two bedrooms, two and a half baths and an office, totaling 1,939 square feet. Plan B is a two-bedroom, two and a half bathroom layout with a third floor loft and 2,202 square feet of space. And Plan C features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and 2,011 square feet.

WHERE DO THEY SEE THE AREA IN FIVE YEARS?

“I think it will look like Lakeshore in Chicago or Bayshore in Tampa,” said Walker.

“This will have been the best deal,” said Blackard. “People will be able to get right out of their boat and walk to the finest restaurants in town.”

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT THE TOWNHOMES AT BERKMAN?

“These townhomes give you a front row seat to downtown activities,” said Blackard. “You’re right there for the fireworks, and the lights at night make the area glitter like a jewel box.”

“I think these are a class above,” said Zoberman. “These people were among the first to take a chance on the downtown area and I think that’s going to be a big payoff for everyone. We’re glad to be here now and be a part of this.”
