On time and budget, work on the new Main Library, which includes the library and adjacent parking garage, is approximately 30 percent complete. According to Better Jacksonville Plan representatives, construction on the second floor of the library is nearly finished and underslab work on the third floor began along Main Street last week. In addition, the main utility vault on Monroe Street has been installed by JEA. “It’s going really well,” said Lisa Rowe, Better Jacksonville communications. “You’d be surprised how how quickly things progress once you’re out of the ground.” The library is scheduled to open late next year.
