Approximately 40 percent complete, structural and facade work on the Main Street Bridge is on schedule. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, there have been no unforeseen problems, and progress has been largely uninterrupted.
“Everything is going well,” said FDOT spokesman Mike Goldman. “We still hope it will be completed by next fall.”
Goldman said bridge work would be suspended during the holidays.
“It will be about a two week halt,” he said. “And we’ll still be working around football schedules.”
Goldman said the mayor’s office has been in contact with the FDOT to prepare for the upcoming bridge lighting project.
“They’re interested with how we’re doing,” said Goldman, “but they know it’s important not to have too many people up there at once. You want to try to avoid having two contractors for two different projects working at the same time.”
