It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve the Sales and Marketing Council this year as Chairperson. I can now admit that I started the year totally fearful of not doing a very good job and filling the enormous shoes left behind by Past Chairperson Jim DelVecchio. However, with time, my concerns melted away, not because of anything I could take credit for, but because of the help and support of those around me.
I was fortunate to have the best Board of Directors that any chairperson could hope for. Their talent & dedication was awesome and made my job a pleasure. A great benefit of chairing the Council was getting to know these
individuals better and developing deeper and more
meaningful relationships. For this I will be ever grateful. In addition, I made so many new friends and acquaintances by chairing that could never have happened otherwise and I cherish every one of them. Portland Stuart has been an invaluable asset to the Sales and Marketing Council and a dear, personal friend to me as we moved through the year.
We set some far-reaching goals this year and with the hard work of our Board and their committee volunteers, we accomplished them one by one: Movers and Shakers Club, Builders Care Day, Special Events, Scholarships to Daniel and Safe Harbor, excellence in breakfast programs, website improvement, more educational programs, more exhibitors at the Realtor Builder Trade Show, Number One SMC in the State of Florida, increased membership, SAM TRAMs and Manager’s Roundtables revived and thriving, and a new venue and format for Laurels.
There were certainly some bumps along the way, but overall the ride was most enjoyable. I can now sit back and take pleasure in the view as I look back and, more importantly, ahead to the great things in store for SMC under the new leadership of Bob Ransom. This is still just the beginning! Thank you one and all for your tremendous support and commitment to the Sales and Marketing Council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association.
