The Alhambra Dinner Theatre’s latest production, “The Sound of Music,” opened last week and runs through Aug. 30. The play tells the story of Maria Rainer, who is hired by Capt. George Von Trapp to care for his seven children. “The Sound of Music” opened Nov. 16, 1959 and became the second-longest running Broadway musical of the 1950s. For the most part, the leads were very professional and had good singing voices. Tony Triano as Max Detweiler was especially impressive, not only as a singer, but as comic relief. Another standout was Amanda Carlisle, who excelled in a supporting role. For those who haven’t seen the play, this is an excellent production and worth an evening out.
