Angelo Pattaca Jr., who has been with Brown, Terrell, Hogan, Ellis, McLamma & Yegelwel for two years, is currently serving his third term on The Jacksonville Bar Association’s Board of Governors.

Pattaca, who is of Italian descent, was born in Aberdeen, Md, and grew up with a father who was an engineer. Pattaca moved with his family to Connecticut when he was eight. He attended the University of Connecticut, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting and became interested in a law career while taking business law classes.

“As I sat in the business law classes I was taking to satisfy requirements, I envisioned myself doing trial work and I decided to pursue it,” he said.

After graduating from college, Pattaca worked for PriceWaterhouse for two years. He later enrolled at Stetson Law School.

“A little real world experience was a good break from school and it motivated me to go back to law school,” said Pattaca. “And Stetson has a premier reputation in the nation for its trial work and it was in a nice location with good weather, so I went there.”

During his last summer in law school, Pattaca took a five-week trip around Europe, visiting Italy, Germany, and Austria.

“It was the best trip I had ever taken,” he said.

After graduating from Stetson in 1994, Pattaca worked for two years as a law clerk for Judge John E Steele, who at the time was a federal magistrate.

Pattaca then joined the law office of W.C. Gentry for about four years before landing at Brown, Terrell.

“I’ve switched law firms, but I have still been practicing the same law for six years at both firms,” he said.

Pattaca’s practice includes medical malpractice, products liability and insurance disputes.

“Most people would say I just practice personal injury law, and to be honest, I only do represent claimants,” said Pattaca. “I never do defense work.”

Pattaca has been married for seven years and has two young sons. His wife, Traci, is a consultant for Take Stock In Children, a non-profit organization.

“The program basically gives kids a free college education if they stay in school and stay away from drugs,” said Pattaca. “And it operates on donations and government grants.”

In his spare time, Pattaca enjoys riding his motorcycle and playing with his children. “They are very young right now, but soon I will be able to be involved with soccer and baseball and perhaps Cub Scouts,” he said.

So why has Pattaca settled at Brown, Terrell?

“This firm has an excellent collection of lawyers who are committed to our clients’ rights,” he said. “We take our job very seriously to protect our clients’ rights when they have been injured. And they are very philanthropic and do lots of legal aid and community service. I am very proud to be a part of Brown, Terrell and Hogan.”
