Jacksonville’s Russell Grooms will be installed next month as the 2004 president of the Florida Association of Realtors.
Grooms will move up to the top position during the Aug. 13-17 annual meeting and trade show. This year’s convention is at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood.
Grooms won the president-elect position last year in a close election which also included Frank Kowalski from Miami and Tony Macaluso from Palm Beach Gardens.
He will succeed the 2003 president, Tom Salomone of Broward County.
The convention also includes the association’s major trade show with over 125 vendors expected.
Grooms, a Realtor in Watson’s Ortega office, will lead the largest trade association in Florida and second largest Realtor Association in the nation (after California.) FAR has about 90,000 members. He will oversee the work of the Orlando office and association executive Jerry Matthews with the help of the other officers and 13 district vice-presidents. There are also 68 associations around the state and, as Grooms says, “I will just be at top of the pyramid.”
He’ll also perform a high-profile job: he’s the spokesperson for all of Florida’s Realtors on issues, policies and legislation.”
Registration is still open for the convention and information is available at 800-669-4327.
