The Young Lawyers Section of the JBA is sponsoring an exciting new program for 2003 that will bring together all facets of the Jacksonville legal community. The Afternoon in the Courthouse program is designed to introduce and re-acquaint the local bar to some of the fundamental of legal practice in Duval County. The program is free to all members of the Jacksonville Bar Association, and we expect that it will be approved for 4 hours of CLE credit.
On March 27, the Young Lawyers Section will present “An Afternoon in the Courthouse” for all members of the Jacksonville Bar interested in learning more about The Duval County Courthouse, the local judiciary and courthouse personnel, courtroom protocol and etiquette, and standards of practice and professionalism in the Jacksonville legal community. The program will begin at 1 p.m. in Courtroom 4, and is expected to last until approximately 5. The program includes the following:
• Presentations by Circuit and County court judges, as well as some prominent local attorneys, on a variety of topics related to the fundamentals of litigation practice
• A history of the Duval County Courthouse, including some little known and surprising facts of some its more famous moments
• A guided tour of the courthouse designed to introduce practitioners to some of the more important services offered at the Courthouse and the personnel that provide those services
• Course materials containing essential documents, references and other guidelines compiled in a manner that all litigators will find useful and time-saving; and
• A reception immediately following the program will be held at the Adam’s Mark Hotel, and all Circuit and County court judges have been invited to meet the program’s participants in a casual setting.
• Registration is open through March 24, but space will be limited. Please e-mail Ray Ravis at [email protected] to indicate whether you plan to attend An Afternoon in the Courthouse.
