• Anheuser-Busch boss August (“Call me ‘Augie’ — I’m too young to be a ‘Mr.’ ”) Busch asked to be first on the program at the Cornerstone luncheon. The food wasn’t served until he finished, and a goodly number slipped out, missing the Chamber announcements. For more, see page 3.

• Cajun food lovers have a new dining option downtown. The Bayou Cajun Restaurant is hosting its grand opening Tuesday at 118 N. Julia St.

• Maybe Mayor John Delaney has friends helping him get the president’s job at the University of North Florida. The school recently received a contribution — in Delaney’s honor — from the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society. Delaney is one of two finalists for the job.

• City Council is working on a resolution honoring Council auditor Bob Johnson, who’s retiring soon.

• The City’s Human Resources boss, Adrienne Trott, is concerned about the recent endorsement of mayoral candidate John Peyton by PACE, the City employees’ union. In an e-mail, Trott said, “Apart from my usual concerns about the lies that PACE newsletters often contain, I also have a concern about the use of the City’s e-mail system for purposes of soliciting support for a political candidate.” Twice during the election the use of either City e-mail or a City employee has become an election law issue.

• According to Better Jacksonville project manager Dave Schneider, the Coliseum is scheduled to be imploded June 26. The contractor has until Aug. 31 to complete the work, backfill the area and gravel the surface. Should be done in time to use the space for Jaguars preseason games, though.

• The giant OakLeaf Plantation will get another shopping center soon. Sleiman Enterprises has signed on to develop a center to go with the Publix-anchored center that’s under construction. The 6,400-acre development straddles the Duval-Clay county line.

• Rep. Ander Crenshaw has gotten a lot of things in his life, but one has been missing: a son-in-law. Daughter Sarah got him one Saturday at a Ponte Vedra Beach wedding. In attendance: grandfather Claude Kirk, once the state’s governor.

• The Coffman Coleman law firm makes its move this week from Riverside to LaVilla. The new building will be two blocks from the new courthouse.

• Another Jag coach is going to Ortega, buying a home on Yacht Club Road. He’ll be a mile or so from head Coach Jack Del Rio.
