New community gets 1,400 homes

Bartram Springs, a 1,000-acre master-planned natural gas community at the northwest intersection of U.S. 1 and Race Track Road, has been approved for 1,400 single-family homes plus land for future multi-family and commercial sites.

The developer is Southstar Development Partners, Inc., which has developed residential communities throughout Florida and in Dallas, Tex.

Accvording to the developers, Bartram Springs will resemble a village-style neighborhood with four lot sizes, community services, and lakes and preservation areas. Additional amenities include a Junior Olympic pool and play area and an athletic park with basketball and volleyball courts, a fitness center, jogging and bike paths, lush landscaping, tennis courts, a basketball court and a family clubhouse.

Builders include Atlantic Homes, Ryland Homes and Morrison Homes. Homes will range in price from the mid-$100s to $400s.

In a partnership with Bartram Springs, TECO Peoples Gas will provide natural gas service.
