• Two Empowerment Zone workshops will be held this week at the City Annex. The general public is invited to the meetings, which will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9-11 a.m. The workshops should be of special interest to those who want to learn of tax incentives available to those who own businesses or property in the Empowerment Zone.

• The Salvation Army will hold its annual Red Kettle and Angel Tree Kickoff Nov. 21 at The Avenues Mall.

• Cork Motsett, president and CEO of Business Development Specialists traveled to Denver to take part in the annual international gathering of coaches at the Executive Coach Summit. The only other coach from Florida who was asked to attend the invitation-only event was a Latin American business coach from Coral Gables. Cork will lead a discussion on best practices in “Initiating the Coaching Engagement.” He will also co-author this year’s white paper on executive coaching. Motsett is the author of “If it Wasn’t for the People . . . This Job Would be Fun.”

• Jennifer Leggett, president and owner of Lindsey Pest Control, has been named one of the top 40 pest control professionals in the U.S. by Pest Control Magazine.
