• Wasn’t that rude of the people in Nashville to sing “Hit the Road, Jack” after our coach, Jack Del Rio, and his Jags were beaten Sunday. (And will it be done elsewhere, like in New York this Sunday?)
• Leaving town: Ellis and Cindy Brust. He was a priest at our downtown Episcopal Cathedral, she was a political campaign worker who was part of Ginger Soud’s team in her mayoral campaign. They’ll relocate to the Washington area, where he’ll join the American Anglican Council.
• Lisa Moore, director of the Guardian Ad Litem program for Clay, Duval and Nassau counties, has resigned. Her last day is Wednesday. Cynthia Irvin, an attorney with the program, has been named her successor.
• The Victims of Crime Summit and issues workshop that was to open today at the Adam’s Mark Hotel has been postponed. Word is that it will be rescheduled for early 2004.
• Jeff Edwards of Beaver Street Fisheries, which owns the Downtown Farmers Market on Beaver Street, called to remind readers who might have been confused by our story Monday on DVI’s farmers market closing that the Beaver Street market is open for business seven days a week. They’re also doing some renovations to the property.
• The City and BellSouth have agreed to disagree for now on who will foot the bill for relocating utility lines around the new Duval County Courthouse. Policy Chief Steve Diebenow said the City and BellSouth agreed that the lines would be moved, allowing for foundation work to begin. He said they would sort out payment later.
• A group meeting to discuss possibly updating an animal care and control ordinance in Duval County has been canceled until further notice. The meeting, which had already been rescheduled once last week, won’t take place until more information has been compiled, says the General Counsel’s Office.
• Attorneys and judges are invited to a grand opening celebration Thursday at Coffman, Coleman, Andrews & Grogan. There will be food, drinks and music from 5 to 8 p.m. to celebrate at the new building, 800 W. Monroe St. An earlier announcement for a Wednesday gala is for the firm’s clients and will not be open to the public. RSVP to the receptionist at 389-5161.
