If you’ve ever wanted a picture of City Council vice president Elaine Brown on top of 11 E. or Council member Daniel Davis riding a horse at the Cecil Equestrian Center, it will be a lot easier when the newest edition of the Council calender is printed and distributed next month.
According to Council chief of public information Cindy Warner, all Council members have had their photos taken and, before doing so, had the opportunity to make them unique and reflective of their interests on and off the Council.
“What we tried to do was present the Council members in settings that showed, not only their personal vantage points,” said Warner, “but that also depicted the variety of issues that come before the Council throughout the year. The photos were shot all over town, in pretty much every district. It wasn’t easy, but I have to say they were all really good sports about it.”
Warner said the calendars would also list the dates for all Council and committee meetings for 2004.
Council president Lad Daniels, who was photographed inside the Naval repair depot at Cecil Field, said he liked the idea of showing the Council members in “action settings.”
“We were excited about that,” said Daniels. “It’s different than they way it’s been done in the past and we thought we would be a fun idea. I think it’s great for the people of Jacksonville to have a better idea of what we do and who we are.”
According to Warner and Daniels, the calenders will be available at the Council offices, free of charge.
“Anyone can pick one and we’ll, of course, have them available at our open house,” said Daniels. “This will, hopefully, serve as another way for us to encourage people to come to City Hall.”
