Katherine Clark Silverglate, chair of the statewide mentor project for The Florida Bar, spoke to the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association Wednesday at River City Brewing Company about mentoring aspiring attorneys. In her position with The Florida Bar, Silverglate has been commissioned to address every Florida law school about the importance of having a mentor. As a natural extension of her lecture circuit, JWLA was included because its membership includes young attorneys and law students.

Warning against the dangers of “going it on your own,” Silverglate used hats as props to illustrate the number of different roles that a lawyer must play.

“There is no way to balance all of the hats without a mentor,” she said.

Attorneys interested in becoming or mentor or a protege can contact The Florida Bar for additional information.
