In a collaborative effort between the City, JEA and the Park and King Area Association, a ground breaking ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon for a $5 million improvement project at Park and King streets.
“When we’re finished with this project we’ll have an area that the entire City can be proud of,” said Lynn Westbrook, COO for the City. “We’re making a long-time dream become a reality.”
Utility improvements, sidewalk upgrades and street lighting are part of the project, which is scheduled to be completed by late 2004.
“This was one of the first areas in town to get adequate street lighting years ago and people would come for miles to see it,” said City Council member Michael Corrigan. “When we’re finished here, people will come back again to see the new great white way.”
