Judge Gerald Tjoflat of the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit spoke to the Federal Bar Association’s Jacksonville Chapter Tuesday at the Omni. His speech focused on the status of the U.S. Senate confirmation hearings for federal judges. Tjoflat said the process has bogged down in partisan politics, slowing the entire confirmation process. Mayor John Peyton is the scheduled speaker at the next FBA meeting Nov. 14.
