• Pine Castle will host its Castle of Dreams fundraising gala Oct. 25 at San Jose County Club. For ticket information and reservations, call 733-2650.

• The National Philanthropy Day Luncheon is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Adam’s Mark Hotel.

• Florida Southern College is hosting an alumni party at the Oct. 26 Jacksonville Jaguars/Tennessee Titans game at Alltel Stadium. The tailgating party begins at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $30 per person and includes a game ticket. RSVP to Shari Szabo at 863-680-6234.

• Communities in Schools has named its officers for the board of directors for 2003-05. They are Robert Martin, chair; Jay Plotkin, vice chair; Christopher Greene, secretary; and Shelley Mast, treasurer. New directors are Sid Morgan and Dr. Charles Cline.

• St. Catherine Laboure Manor has received the Quality Award from the American Health Care Association for its efforts to implement improvements to the quality of life for its patients.

• The Careers & Karate program at FCCJ’s Downtown Campus has partnered with Take Stock in Children to provide scholarships to teenagers at disadvantaged schools.
