Expect a lot of changes when the Downtown Vision, Inc.’s farmers market makes its first appearance in Hemming Plaza today. With the move comes a new look and several more vendors.
Prior to relocating to Hemming Plaza, the market had operated off of Julia Street for nearly two years.
“We at DVI have been preparing for this move for a long, long time and it’s great to finally see it happen,” said DVI marketing coordinator Lyn Briggs. “We believe it will allow the farmers market to expand and to help it remain fresh and exciting.”
Briggs said DVI has been aggressively recruiting vendors since the first of the year. Approximately 25 vendors, selling everything from beauty products to orchids to gourmet foods are confirmed for today.
“It may look like we were able to grow the market overnight,” she said, “but it’s taken a while to get us to this point. This is the kind of thing that can bring life back onto the streets of downtown.”
