The city’s list of potential Super Bowl party venues has two new names.
Representatives from the Jacksonville Historical Society are offering their headquarters as an option.
“We hope to rent both the Old St. Andrews Church and the Merrill House, which is in the final stages of its restoration, to interested parties while they’re in town for the game,” said JHS president Harry Reagan. “In our opinion, they are both very unique because of their historical aspects and close proximity to Alltel Stadium. We’re literally 300 yards away from where all of the action will be.”
Reagan has contacted the NFL and Super Bowl Host Committee, but no contracts have been signed.
“At this stage, we’re still waiting for offers,” he said. “Once we do, we’ll start the negotiating.”
