Mike Bryant has been the business development manager for EverBank Agent Services since last November.

WHAT DOES HE DO?

He travels and recruits Realtors to join his company and originate loans. “It’s a way for them to offer pre-approval services and offer loan origination services. We pay them when the loan closes. We do have a lot of agents signed up on a national basis. The Realtors are parttime employees of EverBank. This gives them a good opportunity to earn additional income and be more involved throughout the loan process.”

WHAT IS EVERBANK?

EverBank Financial Corp. (formerly Alliance Capital Partners) was founded in the 1960’s and provides banking, mortgage banking, and investing services to consumers in all 50 states. EverBank also provides mortgage and banking products through joint ventures with priceline.com (Pricelinemortgage) and Bank of New York (BNY Mortgage) and a variety of business partners. Everbank has approximately 1250 employees and over 400,000 customers nationwide.

NEW JOB?

He started with Pricelinemortgage as a sales manager to open up their home equity department. “I just recently made the transition from sales manager for Pricelinemortgage to business development manager for EverBank Agent Services.”

HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?

“I love it. I love getting out and meeting new people at the real estate functions.”

WHO IS HE TRYING TO RECRUIT?

Realtors and site agents.

HIS HISTORY

Prior to EverBank he has worked for Florida National Bank, Washington Mutual and National City Bank. He has been in banking and finance in Jacksonville since 1989.

WHAT IS ONE BEST THING YOU COULD TELL A REALTOR?

“Learn as much as you can about the mortgage business. That knowledge gives you some sense of power in the transaction. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

WHY GO INTO LENDING?

His mother works for Wachovia and has been in banking for over 30 years. “I’ve always have had an interest in the banking and finance field.”

WHY HIRE AGENTS?

“It’s the future of the market in EverBank’s opinion. You want to consistently be ahead of the curve in a changing market. We offer a program that hardly anyone offers today and it is something that we can market that is useful, valid and very beneficial to real estate agents.”

ADVICE FOR A NEW LOAN OFFICER?

“Go with a company that offers training. Always look for training programs online. Read up on current market events and learn as much as you can to stay ahead of the curve.”

When relaxing, he enjoys reading anything by John Grisham. A movie he saw recently and would recommend is “Something’s Gotta Give.” “I really like movies that have a lot of twists and turns.” If the chance to go away presents itself, he enjoys visiting Central America, specifically Costa Rica or the mountains. When dining out, he likes bb’s.
