Years of fundraising and construction finally paid off this week as the leaders of the Community Connections of Jacksonville held an open house to celebrate their new Duval Street facilities.
On hand for the small reception were City Council president Elaine Brown, Children’s Commission Chief Executive Officer Linda Lanier and others from various non-profit organizations.
“We’re so proud of this building,” said Community Connections executive director Pat Hannan. “It took us a little while, but we love it.”
About 30 employees work out of the one-story facility across from the group’s existing three-story offices.
Community Connections, formerly the YWCA, provides services to homeless women and children, while they work to become financially independent. They also offer after school child care.
