Gavels were passed and a sizable donation was bestowed at the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel’s year-end dinner meeting Monday night at The Haskell Building.

About 45 members of JADC attended the dinner and elected new officers for the coming year. Joey Vaughn, 2004 president of JADC and an attorney with Boyd and Jenerette, passed his responsibilities to Penny Schmidt, an attorney with Schutt, Humphries, Schmidt and Burnett. Schmidt will be president of JADC for the 2005 term. Three other association members were elected to the JADC’s board of directors for 2005: Jeri O’Hara, vice

president; Marianne Aho, treasurer; and Edward Birk, secretary.

As his last act as president, Vaughn presented Jacksonville Area Legal Aid board president John Duvall with a $2,500 donation for JALA’s campaign for maintaining justice.
