The Home Depot was honored with the Northeast Florida Builders Association October Member of the Month Award at a recent association board meeting.
To celebrate the company’s 25-year milestone, The Home Depot set a goal of delivering its largest week-long volunteer effort to date. Area stores participated in various community projects throughout Jacksonville. The Lane Avenue, Lem Turner, Orange Park and Southside stores teamed together with Builders Care to renovate Suzie Kivett’s home.
What started out as a volunteer opportunity for many of the Home Depot employees turned into a dream come true for Kivett, a multiple sclerosis patient.
Store managers Gary Williams, Scott Bradley, Mike Hirner, Doug Shiver led more than 100 volunteers in the project.
Looking forward to a wheelchair accessible shower and some cosmetic work to her house, Kivett returned home to the additional surprise of a new kitchen, landscape that includes a birdbath and pathway in the backyard.
Sisler-Johnston Interior Design and builder DR Horton responded on a moment’s notice with new furniture just hours before her homecoming.
