Judgeship opens in Volusia County

Applications are being sought to fill a judicial vacancy in the Volusia County Court created by the resignation of Judge Thomas E. Bevis.

An applicant must be a registered Florida voter and have been a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years. In addition, any applicant chosen must reside in Volusia County upon assuming office. Application forms are available on the Florida Bar website www.flabar.org or from the office of the chair of the Seventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, William E. Loucks, 444 Seabreeze Blvd., Suite 900, Daytona Beach 32118.

An original and nine copies of the completed application must be delivered to and received by Loucks no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, January 14.

Commission members will evaluate all applicants and, upon completion of the evaluation process, submit up to six names to Gov. Jeb bBush, who will make the selection.

Interviews of the applications will be conducted on dates and at a location to be announced.

In addition to Loucks, the current members of the nominating commission are Lonnie N. Groot, William J. Voges, James D. Clark, Edwin Davis, Michael E. Glenn, Maureen S. Christine, Sean Daly and Michael H. Lambert.
