A year ago, restaurateur Robert Humphries scoured downtown, hoping to find a location where he could reopen Ieyasu, his family’s business and a downtown staple in the early 1980s. Humphries signed a lease agreement with owners of the W.A. Knight Building on West Adams Street last spring, and now has all the necessary permits needed to transform the space into “the restaurant of [his] dreams.”

He’s expected to get started today.

The restaurant will have a “very Tokyo look” and will be open for lunch and dinner.

“We’re very excited for him,” said Lisa King of Langton Associates, owners of the building. “It’s taken a long time to get to this point, but we know he’s going to do great things there.”
