Monday was a busy day for the Shenyang, China delegation. A sister city to Jacksonville, the group took a two-day trip around town in an attempt to establish business relationships and contacts.

“Their stay can best be described as an economic growth trip,” said Nancy Olson, Jacksonville Economic Development Commission International manager. “A group of us visited Shenyang in November for a similar purpose and this was a follow-up to that.”

While in town, the delegation met with City Council president Lad Daniels and Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce’s John Freeman for an economic overview of Jacksonville before flying home early this morning.

“Everything went very well,” said Olson. “There are over seven million people in Shenyang and yet it is largely unknown to most people here. Because of that, they were hoping to establish some business relationships they didn’t have before. I think we were able to help.”
