Starting today, both sidewalks on the Main Street Bridge will be closed for safety reasons, says Florida Department of Transportation spokesperson Mike Goldman, citing structural repairs and painting. While the closure won’t impact the Gate River Run in March, Goldman says it will affect runners who are training for the race, which crosses the bridge. Goldman has been working with Doug Allred of the Jacksonville Track Club to let runners know they’ll need to find alternate training routes. The sidewalks will be closed until the project is finished this summer.
