Representatives from the public and private sector gathered Wednesday to break ground on San Marco’s newest pocket park. A memorial for former Greenscape of Jacksonville board member Jim Rink, park construction should be complete by mid-August.
“We’re honored to be able to dedicate this park to Jim,” said Tom Fisher of Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher PA. “He was very dedicated to the community and would be very pleased at the work we’re doing.”
Located on Cedar Street, bordering the St. Johns River, developers said the public will be able to relax and fish at the park.
“It’s going to be great,” said former City Council member Matt Carlucci, who was responsible for bringing the project before the City over a year ago. “There are several more places like this that dead end into the water all through San Marco. I hope we can work towards opening those up, too.”
