Community Connections is finishing work on a new downtown office building. Located on the corner of Duval, Liberty and Church streets, construction began in October. “We’re very excited about the project,” said Pat Hannan, Community Connections’ executive director. “We can’t wait to be downtown.” Hannan said 15 Community Connections staffers currently based in an Atlantic Boulevard office, will relocate to the building.

“They said we could be in there by the end of the month,” she said, “but that sounds almost too good to be true. I think August is a little more realistic.”Hannan said Mastec Builders, who are developing the project, have been “very cooperative” and there have been no delays. “We’ve moved along very smoothly,” she said. “When you start a new project, this is the kind of experience you dream of.” Community Connections provides shelter for homeless woman and children while they become educated and financially independent. They also provide after-school care at various sites throughout Duval County.
