Despite the humidity and the heat, Sail Jacksonville 2004 went according to plan.
As part of the waterfront festival, a dozen Tall Ships were docked downtown. Attendees were encouraged to tour the vessels and to participate in maritime activities.
“It’s great that Jacksonville can pull something like this off,” said Mary Boutin, who came downtown Saturday with her three children.
Boutin said she was surprised to find things that both she and her children could enjoy.
“I think it proves that we have a really beautiful city and that the people here are willing to support it,” she said. “We’ll be back next year.”
