A collaborative effort between the City, JEA and local initiatives, the $5 million improvement project at Park and King streets in Riverside is progressing.

According to project representatives, work is on schedule despite a minor setback last month. Construction workers mistakenly uncovered JEA utility wires, causing a six-week delay.

“But JEA was happy to work with us to fix the problem and now things are right back on track,” said City Council member Michael Corrigan. “I’m happy with the progress we’ve made and I’m confident that once the neighborhood is completely restored it will, once again, be a beautiful and historically valuable shopping district.”

Park and King renovations will likely be completed in late 2004.
