The City will participate in a regional terrorism disaster drill, beginning today at 5 p.m. with an exercise by the Coast Guard.
The drill is required by the federal and state Departments of Homeland Defense and will test the City’s ability to work together, respond to, coordinate and provide communication about a fictional disaster.
The drill continues Tuesday with operations at Jacksonville International Airport and the Emergency Operations Center on Julia Street.
Mayor John Peyton, Sheriff John Rutherford, Fire Chief Richard Barrett and other City employees will take part in the drill.
Thirteen other counties are also participating in the exercise.
