The First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning, officially unveiling its new headquarters.
Located on Prudential Drive, the two-story building was once the headquarters for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, which still owns the facility and is leasing it to MPO.
“We’ve worked very hard to get to today,” said Denise Bunnewith, MPO executive director. “But in the process, we’ve remade ourselves.”
Formerly a part of the City’s Planning Department, MPO recently became an independent regional agency and is now responsible for transportation planning and prioritizing in Duval County and the surrounding counties.
