Organizers of Sail Jacksonville 2004 detailed plans for the festival during a press conference Friday morning on the Northbank Riverwalk.

Honorary event chair Lynette Self said a dozen tall ships will be docked downtown from June 11-13 and that several activities have been planned.

“We’re very excited to be able to host this kind of event here in Jacksonville,” she said. “We’re expecting anywhere from 100,000 to 150,000 spectators downtown and we think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The tall ships are scheduled to arrive downtown June 10. The ships will exchange welcoming cannon fire with Ft. Caroline as they make their way to downtown, where they will be docked for the festival, which includes tours, musical entertainment, ship races and a fireworks show.

The festival is free and runs from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. June 11; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. June 12; and noon-6 p.m. June 13.
