Mayor John Peyton announced plans Thursday to overhaul the Jacksonville Economic Commission via a six-point plan.
“The JEDC has done an excellent job since its establishment in 1997,” he said. “With some fine tuning, however, it can work even better ...”
Among the changes ahead, Peyton said he’d like to see a 20 percent downsize in the commission’s staff. A 60-day moratorium on financial incentives, beginning June 1, is also expected.
He said that time will be used to review “practices and policies that will better leverage and protect taxpayers investments.”
