About 700 people attended the Empty Bowls luncheon this week at the Radisson. The annual luncheon is a benefit event for Lutheran Social Services Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Florida. The event is put on every year around Thanksgiving to raise money and awareness for hunger prevention in Northeast Florida. As part of the event, school children make ceramic bowls several weeks in advance of the event. Each attendee at the luncheon gets to take one of the bowls home as a remainder of their participation. Additional bowls were available for sale as part of the fund raiser.
