• Adams Street Station, the new downtown development featuring railcars restored as entertainment suites, has “broken ground.” Two bright red cabooses and two box cars are now on the site near Alltel Stadium. An 80-foot-long club car also was delivered last weekend. The project is already 50 percent sold.

• The Jacksonville Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at Epping Forest Yacht Club. Radio personality Frank Frangie will discuss “The Impact of Sports in Jacksonville.” For more, call Angie Coker at 353-2000.

• It might not seem like its been around that long, but the Anheuser-Busch Brewery on the Northside is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

• There’s been some disgruntled customers at Scottie’s on West Adams Street the last few days: the lottery machine was down. It was operational Monday.

• New at Casa Dora on East Forsyth Street: loafs of Italian bread for $1.25.

• The Council’s Finance Committee recommended approval Monday for legislation that would allow the Jacksonville Children’s Commission to transfer funds from within their budget without Mayor John Peyton’s approval. The JCC board, however, will still have to vote before any transfers are made.

• Atlantic Coast Conference assistant commissioner Dee Todd gave a great reason to purchase tickets for the ACC Baseball Tournament in Jacksonville next May: last year 42 players from the ACC were drafted by Major League Baseball teams.

• FreshMinistries has forged a partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and the Church of the Southern Province of South Africa to combat HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa. With a USAID grant of $10 million to lead agency FreshMinistries, hundreds of youth outreach workers will be hired and trained throughout the Southern African church’s province.
