Klutho almost ready for tenants

With more than five years and $1.8 million invested, the historic Klutho Apartment building is almost completely restored. Obtained in 1999 by the FreshMinistries Main Street Economic Redevelopment Initiative, the three-story Klutho building has gone though extensive construction in an effort to attract local businesses to Springfield. Michael Bryant, director of Fresh Ministries’ Center for Urban Initiatives, said the building could turn things around for businesses in Springfield. “If you can set up a signature building on Main Street, that could really jump start economic development in the area.” The building should be finished and accepting tenants by the beginning of October, said Bryant. Once finished, the building will be able to accommodate up to seven businesses.
