It was the middle of the afternoon, but plenty of people showed up on Forsyth Street Thursday hoping to do a little star-gazing.
John Travolta, James Gandolfini and plenty of unrecognizable actors in 1940s-style costumes were shooting scenes for the upcoming film “Lonely Hearts” inside the building that used to house the Florida Ballet.
The movie is based on the true story of Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck who were executed for killing more than a dozen women in the late 1940s. The pair, known as the Lonely Hearts Killers, found their victims through personal ads.
Travolta and Gandolfini will portray homicide detectives Elmer C. Robinson (Travolta) and Charles Hildebrandt (Gandolfini), who tracked the killers. Salma Hayek, who is not in town for the shoot, will play Beck.
