The I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless officially began construction on its newest center Monday - the William R. and Frances B. Barnett Children’s Building. The new building is being constructed adjacent to the homeless center’s East Adams Street location. Mayor John Peyton joined representatives from D.R. Horton and the W.G. Pitts Company as well as a few children from the Sulzbacher Center for the ground breaking ceremony. The 2,000 square-foot center will offer a wide variety of programs and events for children that come to the center once it is completed by the end of the summer.
